Carolyn N. Daly, Esq.

Founder & Managing Partner | Attorney, Mediator, Arbitrator

Carolyn N. Daly is a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney in New Jersey.  She is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and was recently sworn in as the President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New Jersey Chapter.  She is trained in collaborative divorce, divorce mediation, parent coordination, and arbitration.

As the Founder and Managing Partner of Daly & Associates, Carolyn prides herself on a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to resolving family law matters in a manner that best serves her clients and their families.  She has significant experience handling divorce litigation, domestic violence, custody and parenting time, alimony, child support, college contribution, enforcement of settlement agreements, equitable distribution, and division of complex assets such as restricted stock units, stock options, cryptocurrency, deferred compensation, and closely held businesses.  Carolyn chose to focus on family law only after having practiced in several different areas of the law, which helps her to identify issues that can often be overlooked by other family law practitioners.

Ms. Daly is a member of a number of prominent family law organizations.  She has served for several years on the Family Law Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is a member of the Family Section of the State Bar Association.  She is a former Trustee of the Morris County Bar Foundation.  Prior to ascending to the Presidency of NJ-AAML, Ms. Daly served the NJ Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in several capacities, including as Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President.  She serves on the Morris County Child Support Partnership committee and has been an Early Settlement Panelist in Morris County since 2005.  Carolyn previously sat on a committee which assisted in the formation of the Morris Family Justice Center and served as a volunteer attorney for the Partners for Women and Justice.  This past year, Carolyn worked to launch a supervised parenting time program, Family Matters of Morris County, which provides supervised parenting time and other critical resources to families in need both in Morris County and throughout the State.  Carolyn also volunteers as an attorney for the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project, where she works with victims of domestic violence to obtain restraining orders against their abusers.  Carolyn is a Lifetime Member of Cambridge Who’s Who and is a member of the National Association of Professional Women.

Carolyn has been featured in numerous legal and non-legal publications, including Mendham Neighbors, New Jersey Family Magazine, New Jersey Family Lawyer and more.  She has written a number of articles, including an article entitled “College Contribution: A Contrarian View” for the New Jersey Family Lawyer and “What to Do When Your Spouse Says ‘I’m Out of Here!’” for the book How to Survive Your Financial Crisis.  She regularly lectures at continuing legal education courses throughout New Jersey on various topics, including child support, college contribution, DCP&P, interstate custody and support, tracing and locating assets, cohabitation and its impacts on alimony and the intersection between criminal and family law.  She recently appeared on The Balancing Act with Montel Williams to discuss finding alternatives to litigating your divorce and appeared on a segment dealing with domestic violence on Princeton TV.  Ms. Daly is also regularly appointed by family court judges as a mediator, Guardian ad Litem and Parent Coordinator.

Carolyn graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where she received her B.A. in Political Science and Government and Seton Hall University School of Law, where she obtained her J.D.  She is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, and before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Ms. Daly has been selected to Super Lawyers for the past ten consecutive years.  Prior to that, she was selected as a Rising Star for a number of years.  She has consistently been included as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in New Jersey and has been included in its Top 100 Lawyers list for the past several years.  The Super Lawyers list is issued by Thomson Reuters, and a description of the selection methodology can be found here.  Ms. Daly has also been selected as an Avvo Top-Rated Lawyer and as New Jersey Family Magazine’s Best Lawyers for Families for the past several years.  A description of the methodology employed by New Jersey Family Magazine can be found here.
